"Sunday 1st September, 1pm slot. We booked a restaurant table, as our friends from London wanted lunch in this fabulous traditional pub. The waitress was doing her best, but then she opened the window immediately behind me, without even asking if it was ok! So I figured I 'd stay quiet about the drafty breeze on my back as she was obviously extremely busy. We ordered the pie mash, the meal appeared....pie chips! When we questioned the lady she insisted she had stated they 'd 'run out of mash '. There were 4 of us present we would 've picked up on the 'no mash ' warning as we specifically did not want chips! Finally a lad who was clearly working in the kitchen decided he 'd take his break at the cosy end table by the wall. At this point we declined dessert and left. I didn 't want to hang around if his mobile was possibly not on silent, meaning we 'd hear every click of his phone. I assume there is a designated private area for employees to take breaks? This came across as extremely unprofessional and did not leave a good impression."

The bar staff were brilliant. However we arrived at 0730pm and waited until 0845pm for our meal. The pub was busy, and the staff apologetic but it was frustrating to wait so long. The food was great when it arrived.

The food was lovely but the pub was just too cold. The staff did their best but the little electric heater they had just wasn’t man enough. We left far earlier than we would have done because of this. Such a shame because it is a lovely spot.

Came to the Ship on a rainy Saturday night and it was buzzing. The service and food were excellent. The sticky toffee pudding the best I’ve had. Particular thanks to the slightly older (still young! lady in the spotty pinafore who really worked hard to make everything lovely

Had a fabulous night here last Thursday 4 th July with family Lovely food in bar and enjoyed a great quiz with Ewan such fun and took your mind off the politics!! Stayed overnight in rooms 4/5 big rooms comfy beds great bathroom fab breakfast and lovely staff more could you ask for ! Def recommend

Having moved to the area Dec 23 I have visited The Ship Inn a few times either solo or with my friend. Such a cosy pub with a great atmosphere events such Quiz live music nights. Always such a warm, friendly welcome, excellent service! We visited for Easter Sunday roast yesterday. One member of staff went above beyond to move us to a table in the bar area on request, I didn't get the lady's name unfortunately but we appreciated her kindness especially as it was a busy day! What a wonderful place! Idyllic location, excellent dining and a wonderful vibrant atmosphere, the staff here are amazing! I booked to have dinner and as a disabled traveller things can be quite difficult trying to navigate to the most easiest place be it seating or generally trying to navigate to a particular location. I messaged the team beforehand explaining this and they made sure I had the best position that was both suitable for my needs AND to allow myself and my party the opportunity to take in every single bit of this pubs charming atmosphere and presence.
