"The Sussex Ox was absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere was perfect, the food was exceptional, and the local drinks menu was delightful. It felt surprisingly intimate, despite the spacious venue and lively dining scene. The service was impeccable when needed, yet discreet enough not to be intrusive. I had heard wonderful things about the Sussex Ox from a friend, and it exceeded all my expectations. It was an incredible afternoon that has me eagerly anticipating my next visit for more delicious food."

The food was quite good, though a bit on the expensive side, and they offered some great local beer. I would definitely consider returning. Price per person: £20–30. Food rating: 4/5. Service rating: 5/5. Atmosphere rating: 4/5.

Fabulous, fabulous roast dinner, served during semi lockdown in the outdoor heated marquee. So much trouble they’ve gone to in order to accommodate outdoor eating- grateful thanks to them! Beautiful location too. Forgot to take photos, it was so good!!

Excellent. Good service, very friendly staff, beer was good. Someone mentioned earlier that not enough for Vegetarians. We had three off the bar snacks menu that were vegetarian. It is expensive I suppose but worth it. Love the Lamb chips. Dogs were made very welcome.

the most beautiful workers! wonderful atmosphere, delicious food. I wish there were more vegetarian options. I had the minze and pea risotto and I was not a fan, unfortunately it was a little on the salty side and I just didn't like the combination of the two aromes. but unlike this place is just so beautiful.

"The Plough and Harrow is an absolutely lovely pub. We visited as a party of seven with three dogs and were seated at a table inside. Our drinks order was taken really quickly and when we had an issue with one of the drinks they immediately remedied it. We ordered four Franco chicken burgers, one fish and chips and two beef burgers. The food came really quickly and was absolutely delicious. The chicken burgers were a whole chicken breast that had been lightly battered, with a delicious homemade slaw and the chips were divine. The beef burger was similarly really nice and had loads of fresh salad in it. Just wished the chip portion was a bit bigger. When the child's beef burger came the kids meal had more chips than the adults meal did, as they put them in little metal pots for the adults meals. The inside of the pub is lovely it has loads of fairy lights and old fashioned swirly light bulbs. The staff members were really helpful. There were lots of menus around so we didn't have to share and the whole pub itself looked really clean. The toilets were also clean. That was a good range of seating inside as well as outside in the beer garden and further down past the car park there's also an additional garden with seating. The Plough and Harrow is obviously very popular as it was very busy and we went. I can see why, we had a lovely meal and we'll definitely be going back."

"Had lunch here with parents and was very disappointed. It has really gone down hill. The whole place looks rundown and shabby and dirty. A refurbishment would give it a new lease of life. The ladies toilets were grotty, dirty grouting around sink and dirt on floor and unpleasant smell. The welcome was non existent by the manager or barman behind the bar. Could barely be bothered to speak. I said we had come here for my father in laws 91st birthday and he just didn’t respond. The table was old and worn and sticky and chairs very old and worn out. Could do with updating the furniture. There were cobwebs and dust on the dried out faded hops on the ceiling. The menu was a bit uninspiring but ok. My mum was disappointed by the garlic chicken Kiev. no garlic butter inside just in a jug and the green beans were very hard and inedible. I had the turkey which was ok but a mean portion of vegetable for two people so had to ask for another portion. The meat in the steak and kidney pie was also chewy and tough. My parents had a dessert. The crumble was lovely and hot and came with custard but the crème brûlée cheesecake was a mean portion considering it was £7. I think the desserts were over priced. We gave the waitress a tip as she was very good and cheerful and friendly but when we left we walked right past the manager and he didn’t even say thank you or goodbye. Such a shame as nice location and nice building. We will not be returning."
