"I really wanted to like the Prepare At Home pork ramen that I bought following Wabi Sabi's appearance on the documentary about Tebay. Unfortunately, it just was not hood enough. I'm half Japanese and have been eating ramen religiously for most years of my life. As I now live in a rural part of Cumbria with no Japanese restaurants in my vicinity, I was really excited to see if it would be possible to support a local restaurant and have great ramen. Things did not work out that way for me. I was imagining a juicy Tonkotsu ramen with plenty of umami but the broth was really lacking in any depth of flavour, the braised pork balls overpowered everything (including the toppings I added, a soy-marinated soft boiled egg and bean sprouts), and the fried onion bits did not add much, just saltiness. I realise I am pretty specific in my tastes and would probably take a lot of pleasing as I have grown up on the authentic stuff. I'm sure other folk have loved this dish and would buy it again, which is wonderful as I'm all for local businesses pulling through this Covid nightmare. However, this dish did not do it for me! On the plus side, everything was packaged well, instructions were cute and easy to follow."

nice tasting menu. funny when we saw ourselves closed when we arrived for our booking, but there was a secret door that opens when she felt the bell ping! felt like a cool secret james bond lair.

Although we didn't use the restaurant (it was closed) we did buy thr ramen kits, which we we took back to Norfolk. I definitely recommend them, but also really looking forward to trying the restaurant next time we're up there.

brilliant restaurant. exceptionally friendly, fantastic eating the 'chrystalized ' chili oil is unique for this place. it would buy from the glass if I could...and she're so dog friendly...Bring her our pooch a few cookies on a teller with serviette touch her own water dish...lovely. highly recommended.

Advertised as a noodle bar, known as a sushi bar, however set menus setting you back over £90 per person as a start, not only that theres not one noodle or sushi in the set menu? I think they may have lost the whole idea of how they started off and are aiming to be something they clearly are unable to handle.

we visited wabi sabi before a week with a delicious food. what we actually got was extraordinary. melt in her mouth wagyu bark, a seabed sculpture of tempura longoustins, delicate mush in an exquisite broth, and then the best part of all...miso glazed black cablejau. sweet, smokey, fleshy, we all agreed (also our cook friend) that it was one of the best things we ever tasted. then for dessert we had an incredible matcha tiramisu with fermented reiseis, from which I still dream. perfect service, the best ingredients and Michelin quality food. we will talk about this place for many years.

A truly creative menu, finished off to the highest standards. You really get to experience something special at Wabi Sabi from the small details (such as the lighting, music and food styling), right through to the perfectly balanced flavours resulting in a feeling that you are being transported to another world. We had the small menu, which was more than enough to satisfy us... but really, we should have gone for the full menu, as we just wanted the experience to go on and on. The service was also tremendous.. super friendly and very informative. Well done to the husband and wife team for being brave enough to do something a little different ... and to follow their own vision. Ten out of ten...

"Staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. They were also very kind to our dog. We had drinks and food and though the drinks were good, the food was not. The words 'frozen ' and 'microwave ' were forefront in my mind throughout. The mash potato I had with my pie was face meltingly hot suggesting the microwave was used, and my wife 's battered fish was mushy and watery suggesting it was deep fried from frozen. The batter was also only about 1mm thick and was like wise mushy. The meat in my chunky steak pie was definatly chunky but was a little too firm (not tough, just not tender. Probably the wrong cut of meat rather than badly cooked). I then had the caramel apple pie as did another member of my party. While his was hot, mine was cold. I had mine with cream which when it arrived, had bubbles in and was luke warm. What I think happened was that mine was microwaved first and then drowned in cream and left to sit while the other was microwaved. This mean mine cooled in the cream while the cream warmed. It also meant that the pastry on the bottom went soggy, and from the rest of the pastry, it didn 't seem like it had much crisp to begin with. Now I know that times are hard and pubs like this can 't be expected to make everything from scratch, but there are 3 other pubs close by and unfortunately this one is doing nothing to stand out from the others, in terms of food anyway. Overall, a nice place for a quiet drink, but I 'll not be back for the food. The only saving grace was the price; £80 for 2 rounds of drinks (1 pint, 1 coke and 2 halves per round), 4 mains and 2 desserts...I suppose you get that you pay for though..."
