"We booked a table through 5pm.com and selected the wine and dine option that offers three course and a bottle of wine to share for two people. Super value. We arrived promptly for our 5:30 reservation and were greeted by I assume the duty manager as he wore a jacket. Table sorted we were offered menus and a jug of tap water was delivered. Great start. The choices for each course we're more than sufficient for even the pickiest of eaters. We went for soup of the day, haggis balls, fish and chips X 2 and a bottle of the house white, an Italian varietal that was very pleasant. The waiter was very enthusiastic and welcoming and we settled in nicely. The restaurant began to fill and we were joined by couples on both sides. Our starters were delivered promptly and were hot and tasty. The mains are delivered just a few minutes after our starter plates were cleared and the fish was resplendent in a crispy light beer batter, just as described, with chips, peas and tartar sauce. Delicious. Again, plates were cleared and we were offered menus to choose desert. Ice cream with almonds and chocolate sauce and a strawberry panna cotta were easy choices. There was a welcome 10 minute respite before these were delivered and deliver they did. Lovely ice cream and a strawberry desert to die for. Given my gushing review thus far you may wonder why I liken the experience to a curate's egg. Whilst our experience and that of the couple to my left was all that could be expected, the same could not be said for the couple to my right. They were attending a show so had obvious time constraints. Their food was delayed unreasonably and when it did arrive the reaction suggested something was not right. Whilst my wife used the facilities I asked for the bill and the chap with the jacket placed the bill within a wallet on the table and I put £45 cash within this. When my wife left the toilet I saw her approach a member of staff and when she rejoined me she reported that the toilets were in an awful state with faecal matter very obvious within cubicles 2 and 4. We left the table with the cash in the wallet and the chap with the jacket entered from the serving area and we thanked him for looking after us and indicated we had settled the bill at the table. After we left the hotel we ambled up the Grassmarket only to be accosted by a member of staff who had another copy of the bill in his hand and accused us of leaving without payment. He seemed reasonably satisfied when we told him the money was on the table. We had not seen this gentleman before and as far as I am aware he had no part in our service during the meal. It left my wife and I with a rather bitter taste in our mouths. In summary, the quality of food, value for money and service are hard to beat. The devil is however in the detail and I will not return to a place where I have been accused of being a cheat and I have some reservation about how fellow customers were treated and the hygiene in the ladies toilet."

Took a last minute table last night. The food was ok, as was the service and the room, but there's nothing amazing here

Ate here as we were staying in the hotel but it was a nice atmosphere, strong menu and delicious food; excellent service too. The haggis bon bons are FIT.

This is the restaurant in the Apex City of Edinburgh hotel where we stayed last week. Ate here on the last evening of our holiday and it was the best. I can recommend the deconstructed strawberry cheesecake!

Agua had a lovely meal on offer this summer, three course and a bottle of wine for two for only 40 pounds. There were plenty of choices, and the dishes were very tasty and well presented. Staff were very friendly and spontanious.

My friend and I came in on a 5pm deal of 3 courses each and a bottle of wine. Very good value for money and the food was lovely with a varied menu to choose from. Staff were few due to absence and illness but the ones we had looked after us well.

During our stay at Apex City, we had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant. It was the perfect spot for both breakfast and lunch, with an excellent bar as well. Although we didn't try dinner here, I'm confident it would also be fantastic. We highly recommend this place.

After spotting an offer for their set menu, we decided to go for a late evening meal at this restaurant. The fixed price includes 3 courses with wine for £40, which is a great deal for Edinburgh especially on the weekend. The menu options are quite good, with choices like soup or haggis for starters and pasta, fish, chicken, and steak for mains. The house red wine is also notably excellent.

A great restraunt. Great staff, good prices. We were staying at the Apex City of Edinburgh hotel whuch is where the restraunt is located. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner here and I could not find a fault with anything. The staff are very friendly, polite and helpful. Robert who we saw a lot of during our stay is a credit to the restraunt/hotel. The quality of the food was excellent with plenty of choice at Breakfast. I can't comment on the price of breakfast as this was part of our stay. The price for lunch/dinner and drinks was very reasonable.

We booked a table through 5pm for a visit to the Edinburgh Tattoo. The offer was 3 courses wine for £40, a fantastic offer for Edinburgh. The visit started well, we were taken care of fantastically by a waiter who's name I didn't catch.. (tall chap with glasses)He was welcoming, very efficient and spent time to chat and make us feel comfortable even though he was busy. The food is great value for money, the haggis Bon bons chicken fillet burger were delicious, the tagliatelle was also fresh and tasty.By the time dessert arrived the restaurant was very busy and the few staff were stretched way too thin. A different waiter hastily gave us the wrong dessert but was away so quick we couldn't even t...
