"I met up with a friend at The Highwayman and it turned out to be a great choice. Despite being busy, the restaurant had a spacious and cozy atmosphere. We tried the shoulder of lamb, chicken coq au vin, and Appleby Cheshire cheese pies for our mains, all of which were delicious. We even had room for desserts, which included pavlova, hot waffle, and sticky toffee pudding, all of which were excellent. The service for the most part was great, although there was one staff member behind the bar (who seemed to be in charge) that lacked the professionalism of the others. Overall, we would still consider returning to The Highwayman."

Superb pub, always had excellent service and food. On this occasion the food was not of the quality that my partner and I have come to expect. My burger was red inside, I know I should have said something, but .............

We come here regularly, one of the best eatery around, great food and great service, went for my sons birthday and the waiter was great, put candles in his pudding and wished him a happy birthday, it’s the small things which make a big impact.

My partner and I highly recommend the Highwayman. Great service and a fantastic meal. We had the prawn and the calamari starters, which were delicious. We both had the Sea Trout for our main and that was incredible! The best fish dish I have had in a UK restaurant. Loved it! Our waiter was brilliant as well. We will definitely eat here again.

We visited for a birthday meal and couldn't have been happier. The food was delicious, the portion sizes were spot on, and the service was brilliant. For a family with allergies, the allergen menu was so helpful no need to go backwards and forwards with the kitchen to find out what isn't suitable. Already looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu.

The Highwayman is a fantastic country gastro-pub with lovely decor, delicious food, a great selection of beers and wine. The service is efficient and the staff are charming. It was the perfect spot for our group of friends to enjoy Sunday lunch after exploring the St. Peter's Church loop. The restaurant offers excellent value and I highly recommend it, whether you visit in February or June.

I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch here today. From the moment we entered we were warmly greeted by a man from the bar even though we hadn’t booked it was the perfect welcome) and showed us to a table. A lady then served us I believe the manager) who could not have been more helpful. I would definitely recommend the sirloin steak and the steak burger. The service was a masterclass and the food was delicious. I definitely will be returning.

We've eaten here before, a while ago, and it's as excellent now as last time. My other half is vegan and he loved the freshly made, quality food. The vegan choc cherry tart for dessert is superb, as a meat eater I loved it. The menu here changes regularly but the food is always well thought through and varied. I had a pie, this time, truly delicious. Very relaxed atmosphere and thoroughly recommend for a quality meal out for any occasion.

We visited this restaurant two Sundays in a row, first with friends and then as a couple. We had a great time. The food was fantastic and beautifully presented. The crab arancini, sea bass, and chilli beef salad were delicious. The Sunday roasts also looked amazing as we observed them being served to other tables. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, but special recognition to Tim who was exceptionally cheerful and welcoming to everyone. Burrow is located just a couple miles from Kirkby Lonsdale and is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
