"What a shame that, reading back through TA reviews, one member of staff is immediately identifiable due to consistently poor reviews. Why is this person employed in hospitality when there is nothing remotely hospitable about her? Her specialty seems to be being rude to customers and doing as little work as possible, entertaining the local drinkers and allowing her colleagues to carry her. Like others, our visit was also accompanied by eye rolling, slapping cutlery on the table, and please do not have the temerity to give negative feedback about the food! One meal out of four, the mussels, were cold. I suggested that this may be due to the soup plate they were served on, which had a wide rim on which the majority of the mussels were placed, rather than in the sauce. This clearly totally upset the person who I had taken to be the manager but who described herself as 'just bar staff '. We were told that we had been trouble since we arrived 3 over 65 's and an 80+ year old in a mobility scooter. If she thinks we 're trouble, she needs to work in London on a Saturday night!! The way in which we caused trouble was by asking for mash with the steak pie but making no fuss when this wasn 't available, asking for a spoon for the mussels, and pointing out that a meal was cold. As the place was practically empty (understandably!! we had moved the chairs ourselves to make room for the mobility scooter. We were also told that they never get complaints. Really?? Do they read their TA reviews? In June 2023 someone else made the same complaint about the mussels, so this problem could have been resolved months ago. This particular member of staff has numerous complaints about her poor attitude. I can only assume that this business owner would be happy for their business to fail, because if this were my enterprise, this staff member would be out of the door! Will we go back? No chance! There are far better places to eat, both in quality of food and most definitely in quality of service. And no, we 're not tourists as our family has lived in Tenby for 50+ years (full time, not second home owners , about as long as this 'bar staff ' has been alive. Just a reminder it 's the tourists who keep you going, and if they are not welcome, put up a sign to that effect so they can take their money elsewhere! We were actually there for a meal following our mothers funeral, so no thanks to this harridan for making this a memorable experience for all the wrong reasons. There are two nice members of staff a young man who we have encountered before and is very pleasant and offered to move the chairs, and a new part time waitress called Darcy who tried to smooth things over. However, no matter how nice they are, we won 't be coming back."

We celebrated my son's birthday with a family lunch at a busy pub. His Aunty treated him to a whole lobster, perfectly cooked and presented. The meal was delicious, albeit messy as expected. The beer was also good. We have been here a few times and will definitely be back again. View menu

The food was always lovely and fresh and plenty especially the scampi even though it was always very busy, I'm not surprised it was always busy because the food was so tasty. My son had chicken nuggets, chips and beans, he really liked it. My husband enjoyed a nice pint of cold beer.

Lovely meal with the family on our last night in Tenby. Best mussels I have ever had! The mariniere sauce was to die for. Gorgeous fish pie. Nice atmosphere, smart but casual, staff friendly and helpful. My daughter ordered from the kids menu as she doesn’t eat seafood. Her spaghetti bolognese went down very well. Only thing holding me back from giving 5 stars was the fact that they’d run out of the king prawns and lobster. My son was really looking forward to the prawns, so that was somewhat disappointing. However, he loved the mussels too!

This is our second visit to the hope and anchor as we thoroughly enjoyed our first visit! Unfortunately due to the time of the year their was no lobster available which we had last time which is understandable so we ordered alternative options, fish and chips, cod curry, fish of the day which were all lovely and great value for money! The only criticism I have is the mussels we ordered, half of them were closed! We did tell the waitress who said she would speak to the chef but we had no further acknowledgment and we’re still charged full price which was very disappointing as the time before the staff were very attentive and the food was such high quality! However we would still return again!... View menu

During our 5-day break in Tenby, we had plenty of dining options to choose from. One evening, we decided to give the Hope Anchor a try and were warmly greeted. The pub was bustling and loud, which is typically a good sign. Surprisingly, our food arrived quickly after ordering, despite the busy atmosphere. My wife ordered the Welsh Cawl and I chose the fish tacos, both of which were delicious and flavorful. The Cawl was served with a large fresh roll and a generous portion of tasty cheddar. While the fish tacos were on the smaller side, the fish itself was excellent - with a light, crispy batter and tender white fillet. The sauce had a nice kick without overpowering the dish. The prices were...

We visited this restaurant a couple of times for food. The front section of the pub has a charming old-fashioned vibe and serves good food. However, we were not fans of the back and side extension of the pub due to the bright overhead lighting. During a lunch visit, we were able to book a specific table in the front with no issues. However, when we arrived for dinner, the table we had reserved was taken and there was no reservation sign. The staff informed us that the owner had canceled our reservation that afternoon and that specific table could not be reserved. They offered us another table in the brightly lit back of the pub. When we mentioned that the table they gave us was already reser...

"And lucky old us wow! This was a great surprise, we had no idea we were coming into something so unusual and so good. The garden space is very big and on the lawn, amongst the flowers, herbs and vegetable beds sit tables and chairs, mainly made of roughly hewn wood, plus tenty sheddy structures with heaters, teepee looking things and probably other structures I didn't take in.We were there when it was dark and there were strings of lights throughout the garden and it was all stunning and rather difficult to take in!The service was occasionally scatty but always well meaning and pleasant and mostly very professional and rightly proud of what they do, the place and the food they serve. The food! We were so thrilled with the food after some not very good experiences locally and, as others have said, we wished we'd found it earlier and been able to book another night.I had the pork belly which must have been cooking for hours, apart from the rind (not exactly crackling but still crispy and wonderful) I could cut the meat with my fork love to know how to achieve it. No taste had been lost in the cooking process and the fat was there but was kind of crumbly so it was gorgeous. And it came with great slices of home pickled carrot and fennel which was just delicious with a hint of sweetness and a hint of spice. And a puree which I believe was cauliflower. And don't forget the delicious little black pudding rissole that comes with it.As you can see, I could go on and on! My partner loved his succulent lamb, which was served with the same vegetables. Oh, and we had side dishes of seasonal greens and roasted beetroot and goats cheese these were also yummy and well flavoured, side dish didn't mean unimportant.Sadly, we didn't have dessert, what can I say, bet they're ace. This is far too long, do visit if you can it's a real treat with great cooking and lovely people."
