"Visited with a friend for a Sunday lunch she had booked but given most of the other reviews, we must have drawn the short straw. We were put at a table just inside the door that was not the best location nor very comfortable but a good view of the bar and comings and goings. We both ordered roast. On top of, and covering the whole plate sat half of a huge carrot and half of a huge parsnip, underneath was lamb, so called roast potatoes and soggy Yorkshire pudding all sitting in gravy. Somewhere amongst this insipid pile was white cabbage (no sign of fine green beans as described on the menu). It looked totally unappealing and did not taste much better. I ate half to be polite even though had been saving myself for a nice roast; I couldn 't face eating any more. Price point probably was indicative of quality at Β£9.95 (Sunday roast). Soft drinks, 1 tea and 1 cappucino that looked more like an instant coffee with a bit of froth bobbing on the top. A couple next to us came and went and then I saw a cloth being pulled out from behind the bar to wipe the table. Not sure what it had been used for but I was pretty horrified. I didn 't think the place generally had a particularly clean and hygenic feel to it aside of it being dark and oldy worldy/chabby chic inside. The small outside seating area backed onto the car park and was popular with smokers. Upside was staff were friendly and accommodating but unfortunately I will not return on that basis.Littlebury itself is a small village/road just outside Saffron Walden a nice church and setting but really nothing in particular to stop for except for this pub that happens to serve food."

We have visited this restaurant several times, both for meals and just for drinks. We always receive a friendly welcome and we highly recommend the pub. The food is also very good.

Stayed over the weekend whilst visiting friends in Saffron Walden. Lovely little village, the two ladies behind the bar were friendly helpful. The rooms were a nice size, comfy beds, and good value for money! Will definitely be staying next time we're in the area!

They serve great food , real Pies (not in a bowl with a bit of puff pastry on top)....very tasty. We also had a sunday lunch which was plentiful and tasty. Traditional pub with good traditional fare, plus a range of fish dishes. Friendly and attentive service. Highly recommend View menu

Having parked in the car park, we walked to Saffron Walden to get some exercise. Arrived at the pub and it wasn’t busy but had a great atmosphere. Couple of pints at the bar of which I have to add that the staff were very friendly and efficient. In to the restaurant and we both went for the Sunday roast beef and asked for extra gravy which was no problem. The food was stunning and probably the best roast I’ve had in a restaurant. It was all cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. We will definitely visit again!

I 've been to the Queens Head a couple of times. One Sunday we had the Sunday lunch special and I wasn 't bowled over by it. My whole plate was saturated in gravy which made everything soggy. I would have preferred the gravy on the side. The next time I went I had dinner there which was a very tasty beef wine pie with gorgeous creamy mash perfectly cooked green beans. Plus some gravy 'on the side '. I was impressed. My husband 's Goan Curry was awesome and the children 's meals went down very well! Plenty fish fingers on my daughter 's plate and a lovely big burger on my son 's! My only little quibble was the plethora of stingy nettles in the children 's outdoor play area. I would personally...

We're booked Queens head for our wedding venue coz its local and have a rooms. Location was very important for us, lovely little pub with lots of character. Kim the owner she was brilliant what shes done for our big day, food was amazing, help my wife with set up tables and decor. Rooms very clean and great deal was done for us. We're want to say just big thank you to all staff who's worked that day, it's normally not easy day and its could be very stressful. Yes was the little moments but from my point that's normal. We're humans not robots. It's great location for small wedding/birthday party or christening, and ill recommended for 100% So again Thank you very much for make our day very sp... View menu

Just had a night here courtesy of a Christmas pressie from our daughter in law. A cold weekend and after sampling the charms of Littlebury, which was picturesque but all the shops are now residences, we returned to the Queens Head for lunch. Sat in the Snug in front of a cheerful log fire before going back to our room to freshen up before dinner. A glass of wine, again in front of that fire before eating in the restaurant. A comfortable night 's sleep then a short walk into Saffron Walden where we found Molly 's coffee shop with its lovely selection of cakes before walking back to the inn Unfortunately we had to leave for home and couldn 't stay for lunch which looked to be very popular. A s...

Since all the hotels and B&Bs were fully booked in Saffron Walden, we decided to stay at Queens Head for one night. However, our experience in room number 1 was a disappointment. The room was damp and dirty, and the bathroom was in dire need of renovation with moldy and rotten areas around the bath. We were only given two towels, and there was no bath mat provided. The breakfast was also disappointing, with food that tasted like it came from a popular frozen food chain - bland and minimal. The service was subpar, with a long wait between being served tea/coffee and placing our order. Upon checking out, my husband mentioned the damp and musty smell in room 1, but received little concern from...
