Umami - Menu

Dont understand why this place got vad reviews as certainly not what we experienced today,staff very friendly and chatty as well as helpful with gf options.we went for lunch menu, my daughter 11 loved it.

Booked a table for 2 on 04/12 planned a trip to Manchester around said booking and only when turning up could I see the resteraunt was closed for maintenance. No contact at all from the resteraunt to advise.

We waited more than an hour for our mains, with mains arriving at tables who ordered after we did. Considering that there are only four mains on the lunch menu, the wait time is inexplicable. The quality of the food was adequate but was certainly not worth the wait. View menu

I had dinner at this restaurant based on a recommendation from a colleague. They kindly accommodated us even though they were about to close. The food was freshly prepared and incredibly tasty. The chicken rendang was particularly outstanding - I could have eaten it all over again. I highly recommend this place.

Went with 8 colleagues for a quick lunch and we were served very quickly. Had piping hot dumplings to start and a delicious plate of mixed meat fried rice to follow. Japanese tea was refilled free. It was excellent value for money and staff were nice and friendly and collegaues were equally complimentary about their meals. Definitely worth it for a quick lunch.

The menu has undergone some changes and the restaurant has been renovated. The staff has also changed. The food is still fresh and delicious, and it's a great value. The restaurant is located close to the RNCM and is popular among students and visitors. We are frequent patrons. While the atmosphere may not be the main draw, it is clean. It has been some time since our last visit, but the food at this restaurant is excellent. We ordered the chicken teriyaki ramen and wonton ramen soup with fried tofu or katsu king prawn as starters. The service was quick, although the place was a bit noisy with university students. The prices have increased slightly since our last visit, but it is still worth it. The only downside is the expensive nearby parking fees.

Absolutely great value lunch menu £8.95 for two courses (I went for the salmon ramen which was £1 supplement but it should be £7.95 normally) which I thought was excellent on oxford road, and served super fast which is what I need on my lunch break. The dumplings were excellent and the salmon too, it just needed more of a kick and more veg in the ramen. Overall though, a very good meal and to say it was my first visit, I’m already excited to come back.

We popped in quickly before a gig to grab a bite. Decent prices, large portions, friendly helpful staff. We had salmon sashimi, veg tempura (got loads! chicken ramen (wow the stock was tasty! , chicken katsu curry (he said best he's had so far so beats shoryu and a few other good places . For 3 ppl with all meals coming in under a tenner and the portion size and tastiness we will certainly be coming back!
