"My husband and I discovered this gem after exploring the Cueva de la Pileta, which is about 20 miles away. As we pulled into Zahara, we peered up to the tented outdoor patio perched atop a city wall. We climbed the stairs to be welcomed by the loveliest waitress, who graciously guided two weary travelers to a table. The service was prompt, welcoming and precise. The chef came out to greet us and explain the day’s specials. He initially mistook us for Spanish speaking but quickly transitioned to English after closer inspection of our faces as we struggled to understand. We ordered that day’s specials of rabbit paella, tuna and green Gazpacho. Having sampled the wares of many of the finest dishes fine dining in the States has to offer, we were impressed with the skillful, creative nuances of every bite at Al Lago. There was little doubt the chef’s skills were honed with passion and experience. The rabbit paella was remarkable comforting, delicious and exquisite. The Gazpacho, however, was the true triumph a merciful, elegant refreshment after a warm day of climbing and driving. We give Al Lago our highest praise. You won’t be disappointed."

Great dinner in Zahara de la Sierra at Al Lago. 3 course menu. All courses were very nice and not to fault. Service was very friendly, attentive and English spoken. Wine list includes local wines. All in all it was a great experience and I would recommend Al Lago very much.

I remembered this restaurant much better on my last visit, in summer this time we asked for the euro menu without drinks.) the salad was very good, the very jotito meat dish in quantity, the acceptable croquettes but nothing of the other world, the rice in paella with very normal vegetables that throw hard and insippido. After dessert, we order ice cream (shots and wine filled with frost) and a chocolate bowl with vanilla ice cream, which was quite dry and without anything special. in total were euros each (as we added the drinks, a coffee and the service.) honestly seemed expensive for the quality of the food, which remembered much better. the service well, though it took a lot on the secon...

Described as a ‘boutique hotel’ we were expecting somewhat of a different experience than the one we experienced when reaching Al Largo. Certainly the views were excellent but the room and the hotel were simply functional and very basic. Dinner at the restaurant that evening also proved a disappointment. A blue cheese salad with just a hint of blue cheese while the ribs ordered as a main were dry and well overcooked. Breakfast the next morning, pre ordered the night prior, was a shambles. We were served some other tables request and then for the food to be moved from one table to yet another table. When eventually served after some 10 15 minutes (there were only three tables occupied) what w...
