"We were visiting my cousins who travelled to London from America and they were staying at The Strand Palace so we decided to book at the Haxells as it was conveniently located in the hotel what a mistake!!!! There was hardly anyone at lunch apart from our table of 9 and the food took about an hour to come out ! Service was shocking and food average! My family staying at the hotel had the same experience the evening before so it seems there are management issues as it’s consistently average food and shocking service! Prices do not reflect the food or service don’t go there!!!"

Haxells have a side room for serving afternoon tea. The staff make you feel very welcome. It was a nice way to spend an hour eating scones and drinking cups of palace tea. View menu

Very good service (it was early and relatively quiet). Good selection of wines and food. The sweet potato fries were overdone with too many small over-crisped bits in the bowl, but the beef burger was great.

Great spot, nice and central for Covent Garden and embankment. Lovely layout of restaurant, comfortable with a variety of seating. Food fabulous and service excellent. Will definitely be returning for another meal.

As someone dining solo, I found the restaurant to be comfortable. The food was served quickly and was delicious. The only issue I encountered was some confusion regarding who took my order and delivered it to my table. For instance, I ordered a coffee and had to wait a while for it to be brought to me, and by the time it arrived, it was no longer hot. View menu

Unfortunately I was very disappointed with the food at the restaurant in strand palace hotel .The hotel is lovely and the bar area decor and drinks were superb .The food was very bland and not what I would have expected a good chef to produce which led me to believe there was no chef .The food was microwaved…..a massive let down for a beautiful hotel in Covent Garden .

Staff were welcoming and eager to take our order. Food and drinks arrived in good time. Staff came to check all was well with our food. Plates were cleared. Then we were completely ignored. No one returned to ask if we wanted more drinks, nor to offer us a dessert menu or take any further orders. Shame we likely would have had both! That said it’s far from cheap, so perhaps it was a blessing in disguise!
