"The cafe has a lovely setting. It's very sherlock-esque. There isn't much on the menu for vegans, and nothing is labelled vegan, but if you dig deep there are some options. Roasted veg and houmous panini, which I had, would not be my first choice, but was actually really nice. It had peppers and aubergine on. It comes with crisps, salad and coleslaw (which isn't vegan so ask to not have it) other things a saw, soup with bread if you have no butter, jacket potato and beans, toast and preserves and the fried etc are cooked in vegetable oil. Even though not advertised on the menu, they have soy milk for hot drinks. I don't think any of the cakes are vegan (a lot of gluten free). There is also an escape room in the attic which is about £20pp. It is VERY hard, even for an acid escape roomist but good fun. We did not get out "

This restaurant has a fantastic atmosphere and the food is delicious. I celebrated my 30th birthday dinner here on June 10th and not only were we warmly welcomed, but our dogs were too.

The Veg Panini at The World of the World was incredible. The prices are reasonable, the food is delicious, and the staff is very friendly. This review was updated from my previous one on December 11, 2021.

sherlock’s coffee shop is a nice little caffe. it is strongly decorated (not for anyone who loves minimal decoration) and with many nooks to sit. I had a scones and a tee. Both were great. the little biscuits the side of the cup was divine. View menu

I tried the vegan chocolate wing cake, and it was absolutely delicious! The café has a bit of a chaotic vibe, so you may find yourself waiting outside at times. However, the interior is beautifully decorated and has a nice, relaxed atmosphere.

I really enjoyed this restaurant, even though we only had coffee and cake, including a gluten-free option. The atmosphere is wonderful and the service is excellent. They even accommodated us when they were busy. The gluten-free chocolate brownie was delicious, similar to a fudgy brownie.

They seemed to be entirely unaware of food allergies. At one moment they mentioned that the bread contained milk, and the next moment they claimed it didn’t, which made me doubt their understanding of a vegan diet. The vegan option we tried was quite dull and lacking in flavor. They mentioned having milk, but we ended up not receiving any coffee at the end. View menu

What a pleasant surprise! I decided to take a chance and call ahead to this restaurant, and I'm so glad I did. It was bustling with customers, so we had to navigate our way up, down, and back into the restaurant to find a seat. Don't let the small size fool you - it was well worth the effort. I highly recommend making the trip to experience the amazing and charming atmosphere for yourself. The coffee was delicious and the food we saw being served looked fantastic. The staff was also very friendly and attentive.

So this is on Happy Cow I see. Been coming here for years mainly for a tea or coffee but also a bite to eat on a couple of occasions. I tend not to pay for tea out anywhere as I think it’s a complete waste of money but I have to say Sherlocks provide an enjoyable and traditionally English tearoom experience. Food-wise, a red pepper and hummus panini isn’t exactly exhilaratingly inventive but it did the job. Lovely quaint place, an efficiently run fussy tearoom with staff who wear aprons. I like it but it’s not going to make the vegan wall calendar.

"Booked for an overnight stay as visiting Whitby. Nice place, staff really friendly and welcoming. Room was lovely, only small but is fine for a one or 2 night stay. Large bathroom with nice bath but could do with a shower too. There was an electric heater that did take quite a while to warm the room up so could do with being put on 2-3 hours before check-in. Bathroom had a radiator and a heated towel rail so we tried leaving the door open for the warmth to circulate but there was a draft so that didn't work I think there's a crack in the bathroom window which probably should be looked at ! Slept fine, it's a double bed but we're used to a king size so seemed a little on the small side. We ate in the restaurant, we had a table near the bar which was very busy, but the food was really nice, the portions are HUGE, I probably left just as much as I ate which was a shame really ! Breakfast was included, there was a selection of cereals and orange juice. Cooked breakfast orders were taken at the table along with coffee/tea orders. Hubby opted for the Full English and I had the Veggie, both nice. Breakfast was served in a separate dining room to where we ate the evening before. Free parking is available but it is quite limited. There is road parking but it's a country lane so not a huge amount of space. We walked into Whitby, took about 30 minutes and then got a taxi back which was £9.00."
