"It is with great sadness that I write this review. We visited on the 30th August 2023, and I was looking forward to it. Firstly, the venue has been nicely redesigned, however the dining room is small and very cramped. We asked to be seated in the covered area outside and that was really nice with some nice living flame centre pieces. The staff were really helpful, and we ordered out meals. Having followed the owner from his two previous venues we expected a similar standard, however we were very disappointed. Four meals ordered. Steak pie was just ok, the vegetables were quite hard and inedible, the chunky chips where a disappointment with lots of small bits in bottom of the serving basket. The Chicken skewers were really good and no complaints there. The peppercorn sauce with the grilled chicken was gloopy, and clearly either a packet mix or the awful jar you get from Makro, no taste and very little peppercorn flavour, very poor, however the chicken was well cooked and presented. The Fillet Salmon with prawns was nowhere near a fillet salmon with four small salmon chunks and a bowl full of salad which looked like it has been tipped straight from the bag. All in all a very below average food experience. I have always rated the food from the two previous establishments the owner managed, I am so sad to see this poor standard. There was a small wedding party with a guest in a wheelchair and there was no ramp to enable the chair to exit the eating area, so one of our guests helped the other three people life the chair over the step, not sure where this stands with the Equality and Disability Act or indeed the liability on the establishments insurance should an accident or inquiry have occurred. However we only to happy to help the gentleman maintain his dignity to exit the dining area without any fuss. Sorry Chris, but we will not be coming back anytime soon, I know you are better than this, and you can provide a very high standard of food, sadly this was not what we are used too. please accept this review in the spirit in which it is given and I hope you can look to seek improvements, where necessary, as I believe you deserve success."

This was our first visit to the oak tree and we were pleasantly surprised, we both had a small chicken parmesan which was delicious the food was presented beautifully and served by very polite staff. Will definitely visit again when in the area and will recommend to family and friends.

Fabulous Sunday lunch. Trio of meats for Mr D and beef for me. Can have it pink or well done, served with carrots, broccoli, mash, roasties and creamy leeks, peas and bacon, not forgetting the excellent Yorkshire puddings. Solid 10/10. Starters were really good, loaded potato skins and halloumi fries were the best. Desserts were a perfect end to a lovely meal, but we were just being greedy. White chocolate and Nutella brownie with vanilla ice cream and sticky toffee pudding.

Best Sunday lunch I’ve ever eaten! Did not disappoint!! Visited for the first time with my friend for Sunday lunch 08/10/23- table booked a week earlier. We asked for covered outdoor and we’re seated straightaway. There’s heaters either above or at every table-and dogs are allowed. Order was taken and food arrived. Honestly it was soo flavourful, hot and delicious! Obvs had to indulge in a desert and literally needed rolling out of there after having sticky toffee pud! To die for!! Will deffo be back! Also ordered a side of Creamy Peas and Bacon and Onion Rings (2nd time ordering these sides Both meals presented lovely quality ingredients and plentiful portion size. Lamb fell of the bone it was so tender big lump of Belly Pork which was delicious (maybe could of put pork under the grill to crisp the skin up a bit...

Heard amazing things about the Oak tree so decided to give it a go for a friend’s birthday. Bar staff were lovely and made us feel very welcome, showed us to a table however it was right within the path of the bar and very cramped, one of our party was disabled and found it uncomfortable being so cramped with limited movement in her leg, there was a table next to us with more room and the same size so we asked the barman if we could move which he agreed to, just as we moved a stressed out waitress said very loudly within earshot “table 14 have moved themselves can you sort their drinks out” this made me feel very paranoid as though we’d done something wrong when we actually asked if it was o...
