"Nice airy pub. Session American Pale was good. Not very busy on a Wednesday. Cauliflower ‘Pakora’ not exactly bursting with Indian flavours but tasty and pretty enough for pub food. Burger had a nice beefy patty and the fries (Koffman potatoes) were crispy and seasoned well. However the bun was really overly dry and crusty. Dunno what happened there but not sending back because overall it was tasty and I was in the mood for a quick burger. Friendly service, really an option for a lunch when in the area."

My family and I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The service we received from the entire staff was outstanding. The starters were excellent, and the main course was truly amazing. It's definitely a great place to enjoy a meal with your family or to relax with a casual pint at the bar. View menu

Lovely evening meal at The Bird in Hand recently. The staff were so friendly and the restaurant had a great atmosphere on a Friday night. They also run a cocktail happy hour until 7pm which was great! The food was delicious, in particular the sausage and mash which was full of flavour and used really high quality ingredients. We will definitely be back!

We had a brilliant Sunday Roast here today for my birthday. The reservation was easy to make on the website. The staff were fantastic from start to end, really attentive and there was a lovely relaxed vibe. I enjoyed the Roast Chicken and the others in my party demolished the beef and lamb. The nutmeg and thyme in the yorkshire puddings was amazing! Thank you especially for the little extra with my birthday dessert! We'll be back View menu

Whenever I visit this place, I stick to one of three options: a pint of Neck Oil, nachos from the bar snacks menu, or a Sunday roast, and they never disappoint. The pints are always perfectly chilled and fresh. The nachos are indulgent, loaded with generous portions of salsa and cheese. As for the roasts, they are the best I've ever tasted in a pub. In short, this place serves the best nachos I've ever had, the best pint of Neck Oil, and the best pub roast around.

We went with a party of 10 for Sunday lunch at the start of Feb. While food was not the fastest serving it was by far one of the best quality I have been to in the area. The food was freshly prepared for our large group, hence it took longer than just re-heating cooked food as we find in other restaurants. The staff were excellent, well trained and really attentive. Food value was 10/10. The house wines also very good, always a good sign that someone has made the effort to choose them.

"Disappointed to have booked and not be warned about the mezze being the only available option. Told when sat down. Not much option but to accept. Food great. Tried to charge for each of us there were adults and an year old and year old despite agreeing to do deal for the of them when we ordered. When asked for the bill I was over charged. They didn’t leave bill on table and just tell you the value and present the card machine immediately. I queried and he went to alter. I paid. I realised that in fact they had charged more than the first time. I ended up having to ask for a print out of the bill on my way out. He gave it to me. It wasn’t even our bill plus they’d charged for the set menu!!?!?!!. I wrote down what we had eaten and drank and we added it up properly together and he had indeed overcharged by He couldn’t refund the card and so gave cash. Lush food. If you go please check what’s on offer before you go. Then insist that the bill if left on your table like in a normal restaurant. This gives the customer the time to check all is well before paying. I really felt the chap was trying to pull the wool over our eyes. Don’t let them! He did the same to another table which had a couple and a young child of about or Charged The excuse was that he couldn’t deduct dine in because we only wanted set menus. Rubbish. We have eaten out all month in the scheme in restaurant in bristol and in central London and this is the only time I’ve heard this tosh. Chap could put whatever he wanted into the till ...it’s his restaurant. of us dined. x to come of bill. I found the whole invoicing experience poor and embarrassing."
