"Stayed here for 3 nights, no ensuite in room. But was clean and tidy. My wife is disabled and was put in a room with 2 flights of stairs, my wife struggled. Booked a table for me and my wife for 6 o clock on...the Saturday night. The table I booked was not available, got told another table was mine, reserved sign on table, when we got there table was taken, moved us to another table, wasn't happy, then was asked would I like to move into the restaurant, I said no. Finished my meal then was told we would have to move to let singer set up. Wasn't happy, asked to move again was told it would be me and my wife's table for the night, finished our drinks and left. They took more care of the regulars and locals. Wouldnt go back again."

I have to give this place a 5 because eating was absolutely delicious! one of the best places I've eaten out of the one. I tried the mac and the cheese that I had eaten so often, but the harbour lights make it best definitiw! also the toffee pudding sundae was to die. my fave meal ever

I will say that the rooms are very clean neat, although each room needs to sort the windows, wind howling through them, the seals on them seemingly gone,Brother in law is a window fitter, doors need wd40 on all of them., as we were a party of 13 occupied the whole apartment, was not impressed by the workers simply letting themselves in polite View menu

We had a fabulous meal, something you’d expect to eat in a top class restaurant, lovely staff. On the day we visited there were a group of older men, clearly locals, they were very loud and using strong language, didn’t mind the language but they...were too noisy. Other than that we had a delicious meal and highly recommend, maybe ask for a table in the restaurant rather than the bar but it’s so worth a visit.

We stayed in Irvine recently and we had our dog with us, the Houbour Lights is dog friendly no where really to sit in and have a meal in the area if you have you dog with you. The Houbour Lights is a lovely friendly...pub the staff are friendly and welcome your dog in as for the food it is cooked to high standards. For anyone looking for somewhere to eat out and take your pet the Houbour Lights is the place to go

The food in the Harbour Lights is exceptional. Fish and chips excellent and the chicken in pastry first class. A great chef works here!!!. Very friendly place to eat and the service superb. Our young waitress couldn't do enough for us. Great bar setting too....Full of atmosphere. There is also a lovely beer garden which is going to be very popular. Honestly, I am so impressed by this venue that I know we will return soon. Forgot to mention the puddings, the millionaire melt and ice cream 6 stars. View menu

The food was mediocre at best the price definitely didn't reflect the quality of the food. The servers attitude was absolute horrendous i have never met anyone so rude in my life, many times throughout my family and my meal i was told to wait...and was snipped at. Multiple times she got our food orders wrong and missed things off our orders. Multiple times the servers came and asked us if we wanted drinks but then never came prepared to actually take our order. Definitely think your servers need to be re trained and taught a more efficient way to actually provide a good service.

we first abused ourselves for a Friday night and then, when we arrived on Sunday, we were dealing with a laugh and a sweat. gastgeber could not have been nicer or easier to treat. we had received an e-mail to tell us that...music would play Friday and Sat night, so that anyone who makes a problem would not have the opportunity to book. our dinner was excellent and not to all praise. the personal was also friendly and polite and the Genrel atmosphere with the native was very pleasant. the rooms were fantastic and a constant warm temperature. no disadvantages for our stay and we look forward to a return journey in the summer months

"We were a party of 5, on a cold, very wet Saturday evening, coldest so far I would say! We drew up and saw a young family of 3 sitting with jackets on in the conservatory area, we were a bit concerned! We took a...seat at the back of the conservatory which proved to be a big mistake! There was a terrible draught coming from behind me, I did mention it and was told it was 27c at the middle of the room, but not where we were sitting!! I mentioned it a few times and sat with my shawl scarf on throughout! I pulled down the window blinds hoping that would help, nope!! We ordered our food, I asked about a vegetarian option for my husband, our waitress did say he could a veggie option on the curry and the tempura or risotto, which was helpful! I had to ask what was the soup of the day and also the pate!! I did feel that maybe in this day and age there should have been a small dedicated vegetarian area on the menu, but that’s just my opinion! 3 of our party had starters which were great, Cullen skink, scallops and langoustine tempura, Main courses arrived, 3 fish and chips, one lemon soul and one veggie tempura, all were excellent except for the veggie tempura which was large shards of onion and carrot in an albeit lovely batter, but not all vegetarians like huge chunks of vegetables! 4 of our party had a sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream, which was plentiful! Overall we had a pleasant meal, little or no atmosphere though, one of the younger waitresses (white shirt, black skirt) was friendly and more talkative, the waitress (dressed all in black)who served us was, we all felt a little disinterested and lacked any empathy with the guests! We asked for our bill, the youngest waitress came with the card machine and felt how cold it was only then did she check the windows to find there was one opened, hence the draught, which spoiled our visit because we were felling it cold!! We paid the bill and left a tip on the plate, no one came to say thank you for you custom, or have a nice evening, nothing!! All in all it was pretty inhospitable! Value you for money, it was good for the standard of the food!"
