"We visited this restaurant on a chilly day in Alice Holt Forest, and it turned out to be the perfect spot for good ale and comforting food. We were not disappointed. Our starters of fried calamari and smoked salmon prawn cocktail were enjoyable, albeit on the small side. However, the main courses of beef brisket hash, venison ox cheek pie, and the child’s sausage and mash were absolutely excellent—exactly what we were hoping for and probably the best pub menu we've experienced. The beer selection was impressive, with well-poured options, and I was excited to see Fuller's Damson Porter available everywhere. I ended up enjoying it twice! The staff were friendly and attentive, and our food arrived quickly, which was a bonus since we had a lively 21-month-old with us. Highly recommended!"

Had the roast dinner and it was the best roast I have had for a long time in a pub. Well done chef.

I visited this place for tea yesterday and I must say, it’s a hidden gem. The food was amazing! I live about 50 minutes away, but I'll definitely make the trip back. They also have a nice selection of gins. Overall, it was a beautiful experience!

I had a lovely evening with my family. The food was outstanding and incredibly delicious. There were five of us, and we ordered three courses, each choosing something different, and everyone was pleased with their selection. I'm not usually a dessert person, but the treacle tart and salted caramel ice were simply incredible! The staff was very friendly, and the service was top-notch.

Really nice day staff were great! 50th birthday with 10 of us. The atmosphere was great, very picturesque pub. The only negatives were we had to wait around 40 minutes for the starters, but really nice when they came. Mains were tasty great portion size, again only little niggle was the roast potatoes very dry and over cooked. Overall great experience and will definitely be going again.

My first time visiting the place and I absolutely loved it. Really cosy and welcoming atmosphere where you can just relax and enjoy your food, a good conversation with friends, a glass of wine by the fire on a cold day or a g&t at the beautiful garden on a sunny day. Shabby chic decor, flowers on the table, beautiful views it has it all. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the food was delicious (I had a soup of the day and one of the toasties exactly what I needed on a gloomy day! . Would definitely come back and recommend visiting after a long walk, on a special occasion or on just another weekday evening.
