"Had a cracking late lunch here on the 9th of September. We were a bit early for our table, but that was no problem. Was shown to a window table overlooking the harbour. There was a festival going on that weekend so it was good for people watching. Menu was extensive. I had the squid starter. Very nicely presented and cooked to perfection. My partner had a flat bread which was excellent and a huge portion. Half would have been enough. Mains were the ZFC fried chicken and chorizo and king prawn penne pasta. Again quality was spot on and portions very generous. What did absolutely stand out was the table service. Our waitress was Calla (hopefully spelt correctly) who was a star. Very friendly and chatty. She was extremely professional and a credit to the Zest restaurant. So all in all an excellent meal."

First class food in a very friendly setting. Entrance could be a bit daunting but leads to a great place. Best chips had for a longtime.

The food and service were second to none. There was a mistake with our order, and the team couldn’t do enough to sort it out. Great atmosphere, clean and friendly. Thanks.

Another visit in quite quick succession and we’ll definitely be back again before long! Great choice on the menu and every choice seems to be as nice as the last. Great food and great portion sizes, I’m a big eater but I definitely came away feeling full

Struggling to find somewhere for a lunchtime sandwich we visited Zest. Found a couple of lighter options from the starter menu and ordered side salads as well. The side salad on its own would have been a complete meal huge and very tasty and sadly I couldn't eat everything it was so filling. View menu

My husband’s meal was great, usual standard. My pasta special was awful, just not cooked and very hard, I couldn’t eat it. Sent it back and told the waiter but no concern whatsoever or offer of an alternative.. I was gutted because I’d had the tortellini before and it was delicious. Sorry Zest, pretty poor this time I’m afraid.

The food was great and the service was even better. The staff are a real asset to this restaurant. Very knowledgeable, helpful, polite, friendly. Our member of staff, Hannah was absolutely spot on, as were the others we interacted with. We had a lovely afternoon catching up over great food, we had very few interruptions, and yet had everything we needed. View menu

Called into Zest for something to eat when passing through Whitehaven. The starter (crispy squid) was excellent and just the right portion size. However when the main course came(Zest crispy chicken) I couldn’t believe the number of chicken pieces. If I had only had half the number I would have been perfectly happy. No way I was going to finish everything but what I did eat was very tasty. Staff were all very pleasant.

I visited Zest Harbourside on Christmas Eve for a meal with my sister and nieces. My pasta with king prawns and chorizo in a tomato sauce with garlic was very nice, not badly priced at £12.95, and the portion was massive. In particular Zest didn't skimp on the prawns and the chorizo and the meal was very filling. My sister and nieces enjoyed their Christmas beef dinners as well and said they were good value for money. Service was good and we only waited 20 minutes for our meals. Zest has two pay and display car parks nearby and is about five minutes walk from the main bus stops on Lowther St. Do remember to book at busy times as the restaurant can get very busy.

"A good selection of food, friendly staff and a sizeable dining area but be prepared for it to be busy! We visited on a Wednesday night and luckily we had booked ahead of time, the place was packed and I couldn’t see any spare tables very surprising but great to see for a midweek evening! The menu here is massive, plenty of choices amongst the many categories there’s definitely something for everyone! Unfortunately we had to wait around 30 minutes for our drinks food order to be taken, we were tucked away in the corner and given how busy it was, a bit of a wait is understandable. Our server was apologetic for the delay and she was very friendly, she also made sure our drinks came straight away to avoid further delay. Food came after around an hour, again a bit of a wait but the conversation and the atmosphere was good so we weren’t overly bothered about the time, like I said it was really busy so it’s understandable! The food came and the portion sizes were great, I went for the peri peri butterfly chicken breast, the chicken was cooked well but it did lack a little in the peri peri seasoning maybe a peri peri dip with this dish would be a nice complement. The chips were lovely and the coleslaw was really good too. I was very full after the meal and didn’t have room for pudding, the cakes in the stand definitely did look good though so I’ll have to make sure I get one next time! Overall, a lovely pub meal in a nice pub/restaurant and I would definitely recommend if you’re in the area! I will just add that the parking isn’t the best, the car park fills up very quickly and you may have to park on the street so keep this in mind if you are visiting during peak hours!"
