"We have visited this restuarant many times over the past years, but have seen the quality decline and the price increase on our recent visit. The haddock portions were small and thin and so rather dry, not very succulent or tasty, and certainly not value for money. The chips were fine is about the best we can say, though the tea was not good. The tables were slightly smeary, appeared to be just wiped with a dishcloth, no cleaner spray, and cutlery could have done with a polish. Toilets likewise, whilst not dirty, had a grubby edge to them. Don't mind paying premium prices, but expect premium quality for them, and unfortunately it was not here. The Fisherman's Wife used to be our favourite fish and chips in Whitby, but we will be looking elsewhere for a meal on our next visit. So sad to write this review."

It was just brilliant, staff were great and the food was mint. I urge you to go there if you visit Whitby. Not expensive either considering the quality

If you want the best seafood in Whitby, this is the place to visit. Make sure you book in advance. I didn't book, but was lucky to be given a table. The food was of the highest quality, and the staff were efficient and helpful. I opted for the large shared platter. If I visit Whitby in the future, I will definitely book here. It is the best by a mile. The chef certainly knows his job!

Had dinner at the fisherman’s wife. The food was exceptional. Can honestly say the best lobster and mussels we have ever had. We had the full platter and it was a dream. Lovely table over looking the sea. What more could you wish for. Price was average, a lot less expensive than London prices. Anna the manager was superb and a real credit to the company. Explaining all the dishes and helping choose the wine. Can’t wait to go back. Wendy

Booked a lunch for the family, turned up early but staff ready for us with a table which had a fantastic view of the harbour. We ordered a starter of bouillabaisse and a main of Seafood platter (included lobster, crab, prawns and oysters). Absolutely loved the bouillabaisse could have eaten just that (not available as a main) an the platter was not a disappointment either. We enjoyed everything and the staff were friendly and efficient. Would definitely go back again. View menu

Turned up here on a Friday without a booking, even though very busy they found us a table. We ordered a starter to share of smoked salmon, roast smoke salmon, prawns, mackerel pate with bread and salad. It was absolutely perfect as a starter and so tasty. As a main course my wife had cod and chips, I had turbot on garlic mash potato with samphire with a white wine sauce. It was simply delicious. It was definitely in my top ten of meals. I also had a glass of Merlot and my wife a Pinot Grigio. Both again were excellent. All the meals being served to others that I saw also looked outstanding. The service was great. All in all brilliant. If you’re in Whitby and you love fish, this is a must.
